Using the isotopic fingerprint we get from testing olive oil samples with stable isotope ratio mass spectrometry, combined with the chemical composition, we can establish the consistency of a sample with its declared origin, be that Italian, Spanish, Greek etc., an important test in a commoditry blended to achieve a consistent quality profile.

Extra virgin

With extra virgin olive oil (EVOO) being such a premium product and with EVOO fraud rarely out of the news, checking for compliance with the legal quality requirements of EVOO is vital. Using a combination of chemical composition tests, validation of EVOO and VOO claims can be made. These check for the required quality and for the presence of cheaper oils mixed in to ‘dilute’ EVOO samples.

Pesticide residues

Working in conjunction with partner laboratories, we can identify pesticide residues present in olive oil samples.
